Since 1993 the Subaru Impreza has been many things to many people. There are so many versions of the Impreza it would be an exercise to accurately list them all. The Impreza started with a 1.8 liter horizontally opposed 4 cylinder. Soon after you could step up to the 2.2 liter that was also being used the first and second generation Subaru Legacy. Before long Subaru realized there is a market for the World Rally inspired performance models. Starting with the 2.5 RS sporting gold wheels, a huge spoiler and 165 horsepower the idea had All Wheel Drive traction. In 2002 Subaru brought out the WRX with its 2.0 liter turbo and 227 horsepower. Subaru was getting serious about performance. This was the car that the rest of the world had, and Americans longed for. Eventually the 2.0 turbo was replaced with the 2.5 turbo for an altered performance dynamic. And then came the 300 horsepower WRX STi. Now in it's third generation you can find the Impreza in many engine versions, including: 170HP, 224 HP Turbo, 265 HP Turbo, and 305 HP Turbo models. Oh and did we mention it also comes in a handy, cargo friendly hatchback version?
