You and Your Subaru: Fun Ways to Use your Subaru this Summer!

-Camping, beach day, tail gating, festivals, road trips, star gazing

Summer has arrived in Jacksonville!  The kids are all officially out of school, the temperatures are up into the 90's, and there's a slight chance of afternoon showers every day.  All strong indications of summertime in Florida!

Your Subaru definitely shines in the winter and fall with it's AWD capabilities, guiding you throw snow, rain, or the mountains with ease.  Your Subaru also loves the summer!  There are a ton of great activity options that you, your family and your Subaru can embark on this summer.

Camping: Your Subaru is built for camping!  It's an affordable, relaxing escape that family members, both young and old, will enjoy.  To stock up on camping gear, we would suggest visiting our friends at Black Creek Outfitters.  They are a local, family owned business that has an incredible selection of outdoor gear plus great deals.  They're Subaru lovers, too!

After you're appropriately equipped for your camping adventure, the next step is to select a location.  Jacksonville offers many camping options, several just steps away from the beach.  Some of our favorites are:

Huguenot Park:  Home to more than 70 campsites on a peninsula that boasts 360 degree views of the St. John's River, the Atlantic Ocean, and Ft. George inlet.   Huguenot Park has excellent fishing, wildlife spotting, and sunning.  It's also the only location in Northeast Florida where you can take your Subaru and drive on the beach!

Hanna Park: This site has got it all - cabins, beachy sand dunes, and trails to explore Florida's nature and wildlife offerings.   Hanna Park also has a great lake where you can rent boats, and it's a kid favorite.  Pets are also welcome at Hanna Park!

Talbot Island State Park: For the hesitant camper in your life, check out Talbot Island.  It also has beautiful beach views, but also has bath houses and each campsite has electricity, water, and an in-ground fire pit.  Talbot Island makes camping easy for all members of your family!  Put the bikes on top of your Subaru and bike along the beach or beautiful nature trails.

Tailgating: Summer also means football season is just around the corner!  Your Subaru is perfect for packing up all of your tailgating favorites - your grill, meat and sides of choice, games, your own football, cooler full of beverages and your friends and loved ones for a great day of cheering on your favorite teams.

Jacksonville is home to the Jacksonville Jaguars.   Pre season play begins on August 9th.  Check out the full schedule here: Jaguars Schedule.

Not a football fan or want to check out something indoors?  The Jacksonville Suns, Jacksonville's minor league baseball team, has games all summer long, running through September.  The Suns have great family nights and specials nearly each day of the week.  Check out the Suns website here: Suns Website.

Jacksonville also is the home to the Jacksonville Sharks - an arena football team that plays their home games at Jacksonville Veterans Memorial Arena.  Arena football is an action packed, thrilling, indoor alternative to NFL football.  The Jacksonville Shark's schedule runs through the end of July!

Festivals and Events: Pack your Subaru up for Jacksonville's wide variety of concerts, events, and outdoor activities.

Concerts: Jacksonville attracts musical events for every age and taste throughout the summer and fall.   Some of the most anticipated events of the summer include Mary J. Blige, Justin Bieber, and Michael Buble.   The city of Jacksonville also offers many outdoor concerts where you can pack your Subaru up with a picnic, beverages and snacks to enjoy while listening to world class music.

Events: For Jacksonville's culture lovers, there are a wide variety of museums and art exhibits located in Jacksonville.  The Cummer Museum of Art and Gardens has rotating exhibits that appeal to all tastes and ages.  Also, check out Jacksonville Museum of Contemporary Art.  You'll see tons of Subaru enthusiasts each weekend at the Riverside Arts Market.  There, you can find local art and crafts, artisan baked goods, and a wonderful Farmer's Market.

Outdoor activities:  Whether you love to run, bike, or hike, there are plenty of active options for you to enjoy.  As an active community, Jacksonville offers over 75 running races each year, most offered through 1st Place Sports.  For biking and hiking, we suggest reaching out to our friends at Black Creek Outfitters for your outdoor needs.
