Subaru of Jacksonville Helps Drive Another Year of Cutest Pet Success - Four Years Running! - Brooke W
For the fourth year in a row, our friends at Subaru of Jacksonville have generously sponsored the Jacksonville Humane Society's beloved, "Jacksonville's Cutest Pet" photo contest and thanks to their continued support, 2026 was another Banner year! This year, over 100 adorable pets were entered into the competition, and thanks to 683 proud participants - including pet parents, friends, family, and fans, the community showed up in full force to vote, share, and support. Together, we raised an incredible $47,982 bringing the total raised through this contest to over $191,000 to date! These funds directly support our lifesaving programs, helping us care for over 8,000 dogs and cats each year and provide critical support to local pet families in need. In a beautiful full-circle moment, this year's grand prize winner is Daisy Belle - the little sister of last year's winner, Pacer. Pacer, a senior dog adopted from JHS 13 years ago, sadly passed away earlier this summer. His legacy lives through Daisy Belle and now she enjoys a loving home and her own moment in the spotlight. Like her big brother before her, Daisy Belle will receive a professional photoshoot and a feature on a local billboard! We are endlessly grateful to Subaru of Jacksonville for their unwavering commitment to our mission. Their partnership continues to make a powerful impact, helping us build a more compassionate community for pets and the people who love them.
Subaru of Jacksonville - Celebrating Strength in Our Community and Women Battling Breast Cancer - Kristen H
In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Subaru of Jacksonville and the "Live, Learn, Love" initiative continue their long-standing commitment to supporting women in our community who are facing breast cancer. This year, we surprised Deanna affectionately known as Grandma D, a two-time breast cancer warrior and the proud grandmother of sixteen with a $5,000 check to help her with her recovery. Life has been incredibly challenging for Deanna since her diagnosis. She lost her full-time job and now lives on a greatly reduced income because her body simply cannot handle regular work hours. She is also caring for her mother and one of her granddaughters in her home. The pressure of medical bills, prescriptions, physical pain, and late rent notices have weighed heavily on her shoulders. Even through difficult treatments, Deanna never lost her faith or her smile, and she continues to inspire others by encouraging women in her community to get their mammograms. When asked what she dreamed of, Deanna spoke about wanting to someday open a center to support other cancer patients. When the team at Subaru of Jacksonville heard about Deanna, they jumped into action. Thanks to the generosity of Phil Porter Jr. and the Subaru of Jacksonville team, we were able to provide Deanna with financial support to help ease her current burdens and create space for hope and healing. To Mr. Porter and the Subaru of Jacksonville family - Thank you. Your commitment has changed lives for 11 years now and continues to bring hope, relief, and love to women like Deanna throughout the First Coast. Together, we honor those who fight, we encourage early detection, and we remind our community that no one faces this journey alone. Live. Learn. Love. Always.
